Cowboy Boots and Fancy Art Collections – This Hotel Brand Has it All!

Everything is larger in Texas, as they say, and Thompson Hotels’ expanding presence is no exception. This hospitality brand is renowned for fusing the reliability of a hotel chain with the thrill of a boutique hotel. Thompson has a specific focus on Texas and has a plan that, according to Jim Chu, Hyatt’s EVP and chief growth officer, calls for the opening of facilities in “important leisure markets across the U.S. and Mexico.” The hotel chain is now present in Texas’ three largest cities, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio. Thompson Houston is scheduled to welcome guests in 2023.

Cowboy Boots & Fancy Art Collections HotelOne of the Area’s Greatest Hotels

Thompson Dallas debuted in November 2020. Due to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places, the 51-story structure is now safeguarded. The Thompson San Antonio – Riverwalk opened its doors to visitors on the renowned promenade a few months later, in February 2021. The Thompson Austin hotel first opened its doors in January 2022, joining the Thompson portfolios and rapidly establishing a reputation as one of the greatest brand-new hotels in the area.

Despite the proximity of the hotel openings, guests shouldn’t expect generic amenities or uniform guest suites. Each Texas hotel has a unique design, ambiance, on-site dining options, and shopping selections. Consider Thompson Austin, where James Beard Award-winning chef Mashama Bailey brings her signature style to the downtown nook. The biscuits, fish & grits, pasta salad, and pimento cheese available at The Grey Market Austin allow Bailey and her crew to share their particular Port City Southern taste with both hotel guests and the neighborhood at large.

At the top of The National in Dallas, there’s yet another must-try dining experience. Visitors enter the contemporary Italian restaurant Monarch, created by two Michelin-starred Chef Danny Grant, after a quick, ear-popping elevator journey to the 51st level. This loft restaurant is the ideal choice for every event because of its upscale cuisine and distinctively Dallas grandeur.

This Hotel Has it All!

A multi-million dollar art collection that visitors can view while touring the grounds serves as the curation in Dallas. The Thompson lobby has photographs by renowned photographer David Yarrow, including his classic Texan photos The Dallas Cowboys and True Grit. The National’s other public-facing walls are covered with other substantial works and one-of-a-kind sculptures composed of bronze, oil, acrylics, and needlework. Visitors with an art appreciation just need to take a short stroll from the hotel foyer to Samuel Lynne Galleries to take in other works and changing exhibitions.

Travelers who frequently stay in posh and luxurious hotels are aware that finding a balance between taking advantage of the hotel’s facilities and seeing the city is never easy. But the Thompson company has managed to find a solution to this difficult problem. The hospitality brand has developed hotels that are as strong as they are curated, as cross-cultural as they are Texan, by fusing delectable culinary relationships and city-specific experiences. And parent company Hyatt claims that it won’t be slowing down any time soon.
