Funny enough, we never really pondered about the various kinds of black. We usually just associated black with being simply black. But there’s a stark contrast between the blackness of nighttime and the black seen within a cave. Similarly, there’s a comparable significant difference between a regular black paint and THIS black paint.

We aren’t sure how it’s created, but it sure is astonishing. Someone chose to experiment with two coins: they coated one with everyday paint, while the other got a layer of this ultra-black paint. The end result is absolutely mind-blowing. The details of the coin covered in super-black paint are not visible at all.

Hold on, we might have got it wrong when we said Shaq was quite large. Actually, he doesn’t seem that big. In fact, he seems quite small when compared to one individual: the previous tallest man in the world. This man that Shaq is standing next to is a wax model of Robert Wadlow, a man who lived about hundred years ago and was recorded to be the tallest man ever.

Sadly, he passed away young because of an infection from a broken brace, and it’s crazy to imagine that there’s someone out there who could make even Shaq look like an average sized guy.

It’s kind of cool when you stop and think about how much has changed in our world over the past few decades. It’s like we’re moving forward faster and faster. Who knows where we’ll be in 30 years, or 15 years, or even in the next five. That’s what makes it so interesting to look at the past and see how far we’ve come.

Is there anything as simple and common as fire? This flame was something humans discovered around 1.7 to 2 million years ago, and it hasn’t left our side since then. Whether you’re cooking up scrambled eggs or kindling a cozy fire at home, fire remains a fundamental tool we use. But even though it’s everywhere, do we actually understand it well?

Think about this – where does fire go when it’s in space? It heads everywhere, because there’s no gravity to pull it upwards. Instead, it spreads all around. When you have fire in space, it burns in a blue color, it’s not as hot, and doesn’t shine as brightly.

The Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue in Mongolia might not have a catchy name, but with a towering height of 131 feet, it sure does grab attention. It stands near Ulaanbaatar, the nation’s capital and is counted among the top 100 tallest statues worldwide. Beyond its size, the statue is also special because it’s home to a museum. This museum holds stories of Mongolia’s rich history and unique traditions.

You can observe people strolling up and down the steps beneath, but have you noticed the spots on the horse’s mane? Those are also people there, just to show you how gigantic it actually is.

David, made by Michelangelo, is a statue known by people all over the globe. But, if you haven’t visited its place in Florence’s Galleria dell’Accademia, you may not understand just how big it really is.

David is a towering figure, measuring up to 17 feet. To get a sense of his size, consider that an average-sized grown-up lady only comes up to where his ribs start. The credit for this amazing artwork goes to Michelangelo, who chiseled away at the massive sculpture for more than two years, producing a final masterpiece that weighs six tonnes. And mind you, he was a mere 26-year-old at that time. Michelangelo, you sure give us all a complex.

Imagine driving home and spotting a massive, strange creature you’ve never seen before in your life. This is what you can expect when you live in cold regions, where you encounter quite a few peculiar animals.

Thankfully, it’s just a moose reaching with its long neck. However, moose are enormous, and this one doesn’t seem to be in a good mood or willing to clear the path anytime soon.

At first glance, you might wonder what you’re supposed to notice in this picture. Clue: it’s not the penny. There’s a tiny speck of pale white dust just to its right. Seems incredibly small, doesn’t it? Well, believe it or not, that miniscule quantity could cause a grown-up to lose their life.

Freedom isn’t something that comes without cost. Living in the 21st century, it might seem like battles are only for soldiers or people who live really far away. But let’s not forget: the price of freedom has always been the bravery of people ready to risk their lives.

These two pictures show the absolute truth. They show the very same beach at Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, in the area of Normandy, France. This beach was known as Juno Beach during 1944’s D-Day, filled with planes and tanks. But move forward less than 70 years, and it’s become the perfect place for a holiday.

If you’re in our shoes, you’re likely squinting at this image trying to spot what’s unusual. It’s simply a very petite girl who’s gotten down on her knees to pump her gas, isn’t it?

It’s really a matter of perspective, she appears to be of normal height after all. Why she decided to strike a pose like she’s on a runway while pumping her gas, we can’t quite figure it out.

Believe it or not, this is absolutely real. Welcome to the world of the mining industry, where the Caterpillar 777 dump truck is a common sight. This gigantic beast measures 32 feet in length, 11.5 feet in width, and a little over 16 feet in height. But that’s not all, it can carry a heavy load of 100 tons too. No image alterations here, this is the genuine deal.

Just take a look at the tires—they stand as high as a small bus, evident from the diminutive figure standing before it. Imagine going for a ride on the highway in that…though the term “going for a ride” might be stretching it a little, given its top speed is just about 40 miles-per-hour…

In this photo, you see a young girl who admitted she never grasped the sheer size of camels until she found herself right next to one. Believe us when we say – she’s not mistaken. Accompanying her is the Bactrian camel, often referred to as the Mongolian camel.

You can identify it by its two humps, which is different from a dromedary, or Arabian camel, that only has one. At its hump, the Bactrian is the biggest camel out there, standing nearly seven feet tall and weighing between 660 and 2,2000 pounds. Picture one of these being upset with you…

At first glance, this simply appears to be a neat snapshot of a man’s scuba vacation. The sea is stunning and undoubtedly he’s experiencing a total blast – that’s all there is, isn’t it? Not really. This snapshot stands out because the scuba diver is literally in touch with both Europe and North America at the same time.

How cool is this? There’s a spot in Iceland called the Silfra crack. This is the only spot around the world where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates come super close to each other. People believe it is the only location where you can touch both continents at once.

Relax, don’t worry – this image isn’t genuine. Or to be more correct, it doesn’t represent a real-life event that has happened… at least not yet. This visual is of Rosetta’s Comet, famous as the first-ever comet to have a robot touch down on it – an achievement made by the European Space Agency.

How big is the comet 7P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko? It’s only around 1.8 miles long. Doesn’t seem like much, does it? To give you a comparison, it’s roughly the same size as downtown Los Angeles.

Isn’t it mind-blowing how the moon controls the ups and downs of the tides? At least, that’s what really smart people tell us. Just imagine how changes in tidal movements can make pictures like these possible. And would you believe it? It’s the same day in both images! Talk about an amazing spectacle of nature.

To the left, the water level is so extreme that it’s almost consuming the tiny wooden pier. By later in the day, there wasn’t a drop of water in sight. Hey, what happened to all the fish?

We’re guessing you probably imagined the Curiosity rover, which is currently whizzing around on Mars, as being the size of a pet dog. To be completely truthful, we did too. Honestly, there wasn’t a solid reason why we thought so.

Perhaps it’s because Mars doesn’t have anything to compare it to, it’s hard to picture the size of the rover. Turns out, it’s as large as a small SUV and tips the scale at 2,000 pounds. This might be the reason why it’s still functioning on Mars since its landing there in August, 2012.

Anyone who is really into geek culture is aware that the TV show Game of Thrones comes from a set of books called A Song of Ice and Fire. These books are being written at a painfully slow pace by George R. R. Martin. The books have thousands of pages. But looking at this picture, we got a new understanding of what we already have.

To your left, you can see three books from the Song of Ice and Fire series. Over on the right, those very same three books have been adapted into braille. It’s fascinating to think that even the Westeros map, usually found at the start of the books, was converted into “translated” braille. Can you picture what it’s like reading a map with just your fingertips?

This photograph, though it seems typical and non-remarkable at first glance, becomes quite interesting once you know the story behind it. Taken by a parent of four children, each of the kids was asked to draw the same sunflower when they turned five. The variety of outcomes that resulted is what you see here.

It’s surprising how four siblings can each have a unique perspective and style, even at the same age and when they’re all drawing the same subject. What’s even more intriguing is that the two paintings in the middle were crafted by twins, one boy and one girl. So, which one captures your fancy most?

You can imagine what it’s like to walk nearly 3,000 miles in a single year. We could talk about how this is a great example of the power of the mind, but it is really quite simple. Christoph Rehage, a guy from Germany who loves to take pictures and go on adventures, spent a whole year on foot, traveling through China.

He began his adventure in November, 2007, from Beijing and journeyed till October, 2008, reaching Ürümqi, at the country’s other end. His whole trek was on foot, and he snapped a picture of himself every 20 to 30 miles. It’s like he almost became a different person…

Showing NBA players next to normal people for a cool perspective is kind of overdone now. So, we thought of doing this a bit differently. What you see here are students from the University of Kentucky (go Wildcats!).

On the left and right, stand two girls, the heights of whom are six-foot-three and six-foot-six, respectively. The one sandwiched between them is only four-foot-ten. They belong to the cheerleading team representing their age and their Kentucky school. A striking contrast is noticeable on either side of the basketball court, right?

For all you true blue Disney fans out there, the image at the top probably sent a chill down your spine. You’re seeing right – that’s the very first Disneyland admission ticket, purchased on July 18, 1955. The park had actually welcomed its first visitors the day prior, but it was just for guests with an invite.

We regret to let you know that there was a bit of favoritism involved in buying this ticket – it was acquired by Walt’s elder brother, Roy Disney. Just to give you an idea about the worth, one dollar from 1955 equals about $9.57 today. But, that’s not the whole picture. Back then, getting into the park was affordable because you paid for each ride separately.

Now, all of those tools fit into your jeans pocket. If you took the latest iPhone and showed it to a person from 1985, they would surely believe it was “magic”.

Driving requires a lot of attention. You need to be aware of many things like how fast you’re going, what other drivers are doing, and where you’re heading to, among others.

The last thing you need to stress over is a large cloud formation that stretches as far as your eyes can see getting nearer and nearer. It’s unclear what it might be, but it appears to spell potentially risky driving conditions.

Everyone is aware that bees can only sting once, but have you ever closely observed their stinger? Take a look at these two bee stingers. We’ve put a pinhead at the top and a small needle at the bottom to give you a sense of the size.

A bee’s stinger is really two sharp, barbed tools working together. They slide against each other, pushing further into the skin and releasing poison from a joined venom pouch. That’s why the way you remove the stinger isn’t too important – just do it fast, as it will continue to release venom even a few minutes after the bee has left.

If you’re not a marine biology whiz like George Costanza, you might think dolphins and sharks are pretty alike. Sure, we all know that sharks are classified as fish and dolphins are mammals, but how big a difference could this possibly make? However, a picture shows the true story more than any words can. Even though sharks are physically larger than dolphins, just take a look at the huge difference in their brain sizes.

Dolphins are known to be helpful and can sometimes protect humans from danger, which is why in one well-known case, a group of dolphins kept humans safe from sharks! On the other hand, sharks are known to be less friendly, and might just try to eat you.

We all appreciate a pen that works well, and this might just be the most practical one out there. It writes like any other pen, but it’s got another special feature. The fact that it’s transparent means you can always see how much ink is left, even though that’s not too handy. After all, who keeps track of how much ink they use while writing?

This pen lets you know how many pages you can still write with the remaining ink. It’s really curious to think how a certain amount of ink corresponds to a whole page of text.

The Heidelberg Tun is a must-see at Heidelberg Castle in Germany. Even though the castle itself is breathtaking and deserves a visit, the wine cellar stands out as a special point of interest. The Tun, or big barrel, that you can see in there was made in 1751, using about 130 oak trees, according to stories.

This place has the capacity to store 57,850 gallons of wine. However, it’s mostly danced on – you can barely spot it up top. Its fame is such that it made appearances in several popular books, including “The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen” and “Les Miserables.”

The picture isn’t really tweaked – it’s a blended image of the real nighttime sky here on Earth, with the Andromeda galaxy added to it. The truth is, it would be a regular photo if the Andromeda galaxy was just a tad brighter. You see, in terms of galaxies, Andromeda is the closest galaxy to our Milky Way.

Surely you know, these two neighbors, Andromeda and our Milky Way, will one day be flatmates. Because you see, Andromeda is rapidly closing the distance with us at a rate of about 70 miles per second. Eventually, a collision and union of the two galaxies will occur. Yet, there’s no need for panic – we still have around five billion years to go.

Everyone knows from their school days that the bald eagle is the national bird and is featured on the national emblem of the United States of America. But have you ever wondered about the actual size of the bald eagle? How many adults and children can answer that?

These snapshots were captured by a trail camera, and they record a short encounter between an eagle and a wolf. Seems like the wolf had the rough end of the stick… Regardless, these images help us understand how big this bird really is. By the way, a bald eagle isn’t exactly bald – the term was once used to describe “white headed,” which it definitely has.

These are clearly the statues from Easter Island, situated in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. The island is home to about 1,000 of these, carved between 1250 and 1500 CE by the indigenous Rapa Nui people. There’s no real puzzle to what they are.

Two things catch your attention here. First, many people don’t realize that the moai, as they are known, are actually statues with full bodies – not only heads. Second, take notice of its size! The height varies a lot, but on average, they’re around 13 feet tall. However, the tallest moai stands at a staggering 33 feet and carries a weight of 82 tons!

This scary photo is straight from Turkey and straight into my “worst nightmare just came true” file. Turns out, constantly using groundwater to water wheat fields has caused too many sinkholes to appear.

Some are just on the surface, while others dive down to 490 feet. We’d bet that at such a depth, it could lead you straight to the Underworld. We’re not certain just how deep this specific one is, but notice the people on the left staring into it. The sight is enough to make us give up bread for good.

When Mother Nature is upset, she doesn’t hold back. This photo was taken in Dodge City, Kansas, right in the middle of Tornado Alley. The storm you see in the picture is a tornado. But, what you might not know at first glance is just how huge it really is.

Tornados can often come in a group, like a family, all being created from the same supercell thunderstorm. These “children” tornados are smaller than their “parent” storm, yet they are still huge compared to us. You see those structures we pointed out with arrows? Those are wind turbines that typically stand at 280 feet tall in the U.S.

Isn’t it true that some things feel like they were simply destined to happen? These two images show the same boy. The left image was captured on the inaugural day of primary school, and the one on the right was taken on the final day of training to become a teacher.

The house sure looks a bit different, but the guy hasn’t really shifted much in the twenty-something years that have flown by. Honestly, if you’d asked us to predict what the kid would turn into when he grew up, our best guesses would’ve been a teacher or a Wall Street stock broker.

The two pictures show M0shka, a Reddit user, demonstrating how a small amount of money can make a big difference. With ambitions to enter the job market, he spent $10 on the professional photo seen on the left.

He wasn’t happy for reasons that we believe are pretty clear. So, he went on to use $25 to get someone else to take the right-hand side photo. All that separates the two pics is a difference of 15 dollars, and yet they feel like two different worlds. This just goes to illustrate the truth of the old saying – to make money, you really need to spend money.

Despite each college kid being unique, and that’s not even considering the contrasts between different schools and majors, we definitely found this image pretty amusing. It’s obviously the same girl, pictured in snaps from the first day of her freshman year and then again on the last day of the same year in college.

You can clearly see the changes, right? Obviously, her mood is different, but let’s not forget that her detailed wall hanging is now replaced with funky, Andy Warhol-style posters of Natty Ice. Keeping it real, freshman girl.

It’s always a good idea to avoid going into people’s cellars. You can’t predict what might be hidden there, and it’s likely best for your imagination to take the lead.

For instance, a full rack of small jars with such unknown stuff inside really gets you thinking. Wouldn’t you rather just think of your buddy as ordinary, instead of wondering about the strange things they keep in those little jars?

For a long time, people have been fascinated by the universe. Long before we had the ability to know the actual size of the heavenly bodies in our solar system, we made guesses about how big they were compared to us. Nowadays, thanks to advanced technology, we can confidently talk about the true size of these objects.

Believe it or not, the sun is massive. This illustration reveals the number of Earths that could fit inside the sun, and it definitely seems like a lot. Wow, the sun is really that gigantic, isn’t it? Yet, it appears so tiny in the sky.

We all believe we know someone who’s rather large. Perhaps you have a buddy who’s into basketball or maybe you know someone who lavishes a good deal of their time working out at the gym.

This is just the back part of the Airbus A380, the biggest plane built for carrying passengers in the world. Despite being seen as a letdown in terms of business, the A380 usually has room for 525 people, though it is actually approved to hold up to 853 people.

We all know that airplanes are pretty big. However, since we usually only look at them from the inside or from far away in the sky, it’s tough to understand their true size. This group of skilled workers that you see, are the team that worked on A380. Think about how many of these people it would take, stacked on top of each other, to match the total height of this plane. We’re guessing it would take about seven of them.

It seems like this chunk of meat has had a close encounter with a chopping block, or it could simply pass for an open injury. When our meat cutter mentioned he had some novel cuts for us to acquire, we didn’t picture this.

You know how some folks say eat with your eyes first? If we were to take that advice to heart, we’d surely steer clear of this chunk of beef.

The biggest creature to have ever lived is the blue whale, and it’s still out there in our oceans. But the largest dinosaur that ever existed is the Argentinosaurus. It was discovered in Argentina in the year 1987, which is how it got its name. You could say that the Argentinosaurus might have been the biggest animal to tread on our planet.

Although we only know it existed from bits and pieces of bone fragments, scientists think its size was anywhere between 100 to 130 feet long, and it weighed somewhere between 50 to 100 tons. Just have a look at the girl standing right next to a part – a part! – of a leg bone. Wow!

It’s not for nothing that people highlight that the things they’re selling come from a home where no one smokes. Smoking can create a big impact, and this isn’t just about health. Just check out this picture. On the right, you see some blinds from a house where no one smokes. On the left, are some blinds from a smoker’s house.

You see the contrast? Yeah, pretty gross, right? Imagining that we can do something similar to our insides is quite shocking. Kids, don’t smoke! No one wishes their lungs to appear like that.

Well, perhaps we’re just not getting it, but this seriously surprised us. We see traffic lights every day, but we never really paused to consider their actual size. To be frank, until this very moment, they didn’t appear this big to us. Having this realization is causing us to rethink everything. Could stop signs be really huge?

Have we ever wondered if we are really just small? It’s hard to tell anymore. This might just be a tiny lady we are looking at, but goodness gracious, those traffic lights are gigantic! We suppose they need to be that large so they can be easily spotted when driving.

This photo may not look appealing because, honestly, it isn’t. What you see here is raw chicken lying before a large amount of money. It presents a greater, more unfortunate narrative. It has its origins in Venezuela, a place that has been grappling with hyperinflation for a lengthy period.

In simple terms, hyperinflation means that prices are shooting up extremely fast while the value of money goes down dramatically. It’s gotten to the point in this South American country where the price of this five-pound chicken has soared to 14,600,000 bolivars. Yes, you heard it right, over 14 million. Drones, particularly those used by the military, often bring to mind large, destructive machines soaring in the sky. However, this is not always the case. An example is the FLIR Black Hornet, a miniature drone small enough to fit in your pocket.

Although it’s not built for active combat, the Black Hornet can snap HD pictures and film, offering troops useful intelligence without putting their safety in danger. Its size is similar to a cellphone and it weighs 33 grams, which is almost the same as a Cadbury Creme Egg.

Sure, you might want to compare these two chalk products and find what makes one different from the other. But, in truth, there’s no point – they’re exactly alike. It’s the same box of 12 pieces of white chalk, all made by Crayola. The sole difference is merely where these boxes are sold.

As some of you might have figured out, the giant creature in the sea is a blue whale. Blue whales, which are proven to reach up to 98 feet long, are the biggest animals that have ever lived on earth. Yes, indeed, they’re even bigger than the largest dinosaurs.

Guess what, back in 2019, a scholar from a college in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, invented the tiniest gingerbread house on earth. It comes with an unaltered Canadian flag at the entrance, just like a doormat, the little house sits on a snowman, so small that it’s even smaller than a strand of people’s hair, just like you can see in the left side picture.

The house was skillfully crafted from silicon, with the researcher using a beam of gallium ions that worked like a power washer to form its beautiful details. You can only see the house-snowman combination by using a top-notch electron microscope, and all we can say is they used their grant money perfectly.

At times, all it takes is the thought, “There but for the grace of God go I.” This snapshot was taken at a grocery store on February 14, a day known by those in love as Valentine’s Day. Someone made a charming purchase of cupcakes and a gorgeous bunch of pink tulips.

In the meantime, the other person picked up 12 crispy fried chicken pieces and a jumbo bottle of Jackie D. You know, it could very well be that they’re both headed to dates, but they’re sure to be very different! Now, there’s just one question left to answer – which would you have picked?

Initially, we were completely sure that this photo had some form of image manipulation. If it wasn’t edited with computer software, then there must be a trick with the way it was taken to create such an effect, right? Perhaps the man is located far behind the fish that’s hung closer to the camera, creating the illusion of it being enormous? It’s that, isn’t it? No, not at all!

This is a genuine, unaltered picture of a 327-pound halibut hooked in Seward, Alaska. The surprising fact? This isn’t even the largest halibut ever landed. The title for the biggest one goes to a 459-pound giant, also reeled in from the waters of Alaska in 1996.

We might need a bit of time to wrap our heads around this picture. See that white substance in the test tube? It seems that’s DNA, containing approximately two to three million human cells. It’s been pulled out by taking a bunch of cells, tearing down the cell wall and nucleus, and allowing the DNA to come out.

The proteins that keep DNA in place were also broken up. This left the DNA floating freely. Basically, what you are seeing in this picture is nothing but pure DNA. It’s originating from the centres of approximately 2-3 million cells. So now you understand that DNA can actually be seen with our bare eyes.

It’s quite intriguing to notice how puberty can affect people at varied stages. Some young folks in high school might already be towering and even capable to grow facial hair. However, some in high school might still seem like they’ve just moved on from grade five. The gap can be strangely noticeable, and if you are curious to see a perfect example, just have a look at this picture.

Although both boys are in the same grade at their middle school, one might guess that the smaller boy on the left is a few years younger than his taller buddy.

Europe is an old place with many past conflicts. The most significant one that happened there, and indeed in the world, was World War II. It’s really strange to think that during the years our grandparents were alive, the streets of charming European towns looked like the worst places on Earth.

These two pictures, separated by about 75 years, were captured in the same spot in Oberdorla, Germany. The group at the top are soldiers from the 6th Armored Division, hiding from German sharpshooter fire. Now, the road looks nearly the same – the main difference being the brave men who completely gave themselves to liberate it.

These two pictures are eerily pretty. But when you understand what they show, they become just eery and upsetting. The photographs, captured at about the same location, display the Arctic. The initial one was snapped in 1917, whereas the second one was shot in 2020.

In a little over a hundred years, the experts say the Arctic, which is really cold and often covered in ice, seems to have gotten a lot smaller. They also say it’s heating up two times quicker than the rest of our planet. What’s more, its permafrost – that’s just a fancy term for ground that stays frozen for at least two years straight – is starting to melt too. The bad part about that is it’s letting out harmful stuff called methane.

All those statements will probably still have weight way into the future. After her 1967 big hit “R.E.S.P.E.C.T,” there was no stopping her. She hit the stage with passion and did not quit! Now, she’s named The Best Singer of All Time by a list of 200 people!

Whitney Houston Follows Suit

Not a singer to ignore, Whitney Houston is another influential woman with popular hits whose name will be remembered long into the future. She left us, sadly, in 2012 when she passed away at the age of 46. But that does not stop her from being dubbed number two on the list, right after Miss Aretha Franklin!

Mariah Carey Is Not Far Behind

Mariah Carey falls fifth on the Best Singers list, right up there in the top 10. She has sung some sensational hits, like most people’s all-time holiday favorite, “All I Want for Christmas.” Along with Miss Aretha and Whitney Houston, Mariah’s songs and beautiful voice will continue to be heard way into the future.

Countless singers will be forever remembered for their energy-filled performances, strong voices, and overall powerful appearance, and many names will still be heard way into the future. That undoubtedly includes the female singer dubbed The Best Singer of All Time – our queen, Aretha Franklin!
